The Meeting of the Parish Council was held on Wednesda= y 15th October 2008 at 7.30 pm in the Village Hall Annexe, Cottingham.

 

Present: =   Cllrs Dickens (Acting Chair), Ainge, Alvey, Cole and Robertson, Mr J= ohn Muir (VHMC) and Mrs Medwell (Parish Clerk).

3. Minutes: The minutes of 17th Sept= ember 2008 were duly approved and signed.

4.  Ma= tters Arising:

Litter Pick – Cllrs Robertson, Alvey and Dickens to do a village litter ‘tidy up= 217;on Sunday 19th October. Ms Preston (CBC) to provide the necessary equipment.

Spring, The H= ill – Clerk to contact CBC regarding falling stones (action JM).

Estate Agents= Boards – Following a phone call it was noted the boards on council land had = been removed.

Grass Cutting= – The Clerk reported that she was in the process of sourcing alternat= ive contractors.


5. Meeting Open for Public Participation:

The Chair welcomed Mr John Muir from the VHMC.

Mr Muir informed the Council that the costs of the rec= ent court case were still outstanding and that they had secured a loan from ACRE to pay these. Mr Muir said the running costs o= f the Village Hall Annexe were met by lettings and thanked the Council for their consideration in donating clearly identified items or activities.

6. Village Hall Project:

The Clerk reported that the Japanese knot we= ed present on the site had been cordoned off and would be burnt as soon as it was dry.=


7. Highways:

Jurassic Way = Footpath – The Clerk reported that NCC Rights of Way had identified the landow= ners along the footpath and would be contacting them regarding the overhanging trees. In the meantime the Parish discussed writing to the landowners remin= ding them of their obligation to ensure the footpath is not obstructed.

School Hill   Cllr Robe= rtson reported on a meeting between Cllr Heggs, May Gurney, Cllr Phillipson and herself. The responsibility for road wideni= ng is not that of May Gurney, Cllr Heggs to pursue.

Speeding Traf= fic – Still awaiting a report from Cllr Heggs regarding a review of the use of the Community Speed Gun.


8. Village Matters:

BT Phone Box = – The Council discussed the possibility of adopting the phone box.


9. Planning

The Council discussed the Smartwater Forensic Property Marking and agreed it was worth pursuing. Cllr Ainge to prepar= e an item for the newsletter (action RA).=

The Clerk reported that the 2007/08 Audit had now been successfully completed.

 

Also that advice from Danny Moody (NCALC) was, in the present financial climate, to leave investments in or source other accounts within the NS&I.
